In 2025, the University of Georgia College of Engineering established the University of Georgia Academy of Engineering. This academy honors the contributions of engineers who have demonstrated significant positive impact on the profession and society through their engineering work and their leadership on projects of profound importance. The aim of the academy is to promote the field of engineering through advocacy and personal, corporate, and foundation giving that support the current and next generation of engineering professionals.

In 2025, the College of Engineering established the University of Georgia Academy of Engineering. The Academy inducted 6 inaugural members of the 2025 class. This academy honors the contributions of engineers who have demonstrated significant positive impact on the profession and society through their engineering work and their leadership on projects of profound importance. The aim of the academy is to promote the field of engineering through advocacy and personal, corporate, and foundation giving that support the current and next generation of engineering professionals.
A maximum of 10 deserving candidates will be selected this year. To be eligible, the candidate must:
- Hold a degree in an engineering discipline from the University of Georgia and possess at least 20 years of service to the engineering profession prior to election.
- Possess professional activities that demonstrate her/his responsibilities and contributions to the engineering profession and society.
- The engineering degree may be at the undergraduate or graduate level.
If elected to the University of Georgia Academy of Engineering, members are expected to:
- Attend the UGA College of Engineering Celebration of Excellence on April 8, 2026, to be recognized and accept your award.
- Strongly encouraged to make an annual contribution to the University of Georgia Academy of Engineering fund of $250 that will be used to support the College of Engineering.
- Participate annually in nominated and selecting new members of the Academy.
You may individually nominate deserving candidates or co-sponsor to show a broader level of support for the candidate. Information required for the nomination include:
- Nominee name, contact information, employment (or previous if retired), position/title, and degree information.
- Submitter name and contact information (opportunity to add co-sponsors)
- Nominee Work History Narrative (1000 character max)
- Nominee’s Involvement in Notable Projects and Programs (1000 character max)
- Nominee’s Involvement in Professional and Civic Organizations (500 character max)
- Nominee’s Awards and Recognitions (500 character max)
