Bice and Fink named to UGA’s 2025 40 Under 40

40 under 40 logoThe University of Georgia has named its 40 Under 40 Class of 2025, recognizing a group of young alumni based on their personal, professional and philanthropic achievements. This year’s group includes UGA graduates across various industries, including professional sports, oncological medicine, space exploration and more, including two alumni from the College of Engineering.

Driving efficiency and creating trust in the energy sector

Shelby helps to drive strategy and stakeholder engagement for 6,700+ employees and 2.8 million customers at Georgia Power. Over the past decade, she has led major initiatives in engineering, customer experience, disaster response and culture transformation. She has earned recognition for building a $27.5 million sales pipeline, providing leadership during response to Hurricane Helene and helping to reshape customer communications. Shelby works to empower women in STEM and to serve in leadership roles through organizations like Technical Women in Georgia and Leadership Paulding. She was honored with the Young Alumni Impact Award from the UGA College of Engineering and remains engaged with her alma mater through mentoring, campus recruiting and serving on the UGA School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural and Mechanical Industry Board.

Olympic gold medalist and engineer

As a three-time Olympic medalist and World Record holder, Nic was the first UGA Men’s Swimming graduate to earn multiple medals at a single Olympic Games in 2024. While he was setting records in the pool, Nic was also completing a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering and launching his professional career, where he collaborates with partners on design, planning and data engineering, leveraging technical skills to support project execution. Nic serves on the USA Swimming Board of Directors where he mentors young athletes through clinics and grassroots engagement. He was the keynote speaker for the College of Engineering E-Week Banquet and participates as a guest speaker to the UGA Swimming and Diving Program, including a session at the SEC Championships where he shared insights and motivation with students.
