Each year, Capstone Design students present at the Capstone Design Showcase, displaying their prototypes, designs, and solutions developed for their projects. During the event, projects are evaluated by a judging team comprised of engineering professionals in both industry and academia. Capstone projects are evaluated based on criteria aligned with the learning outcomes outlined by ABET.  Awards are given for the best projects in the following categories:

  • Community Impact
  • Computerized System or Software Design
  • Machine Design
  • Manufactured System or Process Design
  • Medical Device or Biological Process Design
  • Sustainable Design
2026 Capstone Design Showcase: April 22, The Classic Center

Visitor Information

Students, faculty, staff, family, and supporters are welcome to attend the capstone showcase project viewing and award ceremony.

Event Schedule for Visitors: 

  • Project Viewing | 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Showcase Awards Ceremony | 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Guests of any age are welcome to attend. Minors must be under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.

Parking & Travel: 

There are numerous parking options available for visitors near the Classic Center and in downtown Athens.

For UGA students, faculty & staff: A shuttle will be running from Driftmier Engineering Center to the Classic Center on April 22nd from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. The shuttle will also stop at Soule Hall.

**Large Groups/Field Trips: We are currently unable to accommodate external large groups or field trips (15+ individuals) at the showcase. Smaller groups are welcome to attend, but are responsible for independently coordinating all visit logistics (travel, parking, etc.). This event is most appropriate for audiences at the high school level and above. **

2025-2026 Capstone Design industry judges, partners, clients, and faculty are invited to attend project viewing, the award ceremony, and a partner reception.

  • Project Viewing | 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
  • Partner & Faculty Reception | 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.    Hors d’oeuvres & refreshments will be provided
  • Showcase Awards Ceremony | 4:00 – 4:30 p.m.

Call for Judges

The college is seeking professionals who would be willing to serve as judges and lend their time, expertise, and knowledge to assist in evaluating our 2025- 2026 Capstone Design projects. We ask that judges be available from 11:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the day of the showcase- lunch and refreshments will be provided.
