College of Engineering alumnus Jitendra Pant has been named to the University of Georgia Alumni Association’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2021. This annual recognition program celebrates the personal, professional and philanthropic achievements of successful UGA graduates under the age of 40.

“This year’s honorees highlight the transformational work UGA graduates are doing early in their careers,” said Meredith Gurley Johnson, executive director of alumni relations. “Among this year’s class are individuals who are solving some of the greatest challenges facing our country and the world. During a particularly challenging year, we are especially proud to call them members of the Bulldog family.”

Pant earned his Ph.D. in engineering in 2018 and now serves as a scientific research fellow at the University of Michigan. Over the past 15 years, Pant has worked with biopharmaceutical companies and research institutions in India, Germany, and the U.S.

In 2017, he co-founded a biomedical device company, Innoveta Biomedical, that has attracted funding from the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the U.S. Department of Defense. His research has led to 25 publications in high-profile journals over the past six years and he has been awarded four patents for his innovative work.

Pant’s awards and accolades include:

  • Editorial board member of five scientific journals
  • Awards from the Biomedical Engineering Society, the CDC, and the Society for Biomaterials
  • UGA Alumni Award for Excellence in Research in Professional and Applied Sciences
  • 2018 Valedictorian Convocation Speaker
  • Brahma P. Verma Award for Academic and Leadership Excellence
  • Two TEDxUGA talks

Pant has demonstrated his commitment to community service by Independently organizing more than 20 capacity-building seminars and workshops since 2015 for more than 10,000 students.

Pant and other honorees will be recognized during the 11th annual 40 Under 40 Awards Luncheon Sept. 10 in the Tate Student Center on campus.
