What is your favorite thing about being a student at UGA?
My favorite part about being a student at UGA is being able to make friends wherever you go on campus. I love having the knowledge that you are welcome in every aspect of UGA.
Why did you choose engineering?
I chose engineering because I have always admired aircraft and my passion to give back to my community. My co-op at Delta TechOps has further solidified my desire to pursue a degree in engineering by opening my eyes to many ways an engineer can have an impact on society.
Why is it important for the university to have a diverse community?
A diverse community in college mirrors the diversity of the real world. College is a place for students to grow professionally and personally; creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone is crucial to have in this stage of education.
What has been the greatest challenge you have faced while at UGA, and how did you overcome it?
One of my greatest challenges I’ve faced is when I first withdrew from a class my freshmen year spring semester. This was a hard time in my life, and although I was worried about how this would affect my future studies, I realized that that was the best decision I could have made at that time. Through this experience I learned how resourceful UGA is and got help to overcome my difficult situation.
What have you learned that has made a difference for you?
Be selfish. I have learned that you need to make time for yourself. Being involved in extracurriculars that don’t necessarily involve engineering is how I push my comfort zone to make the most of my college experience!
Who has helped you become a successful student at UGA?
My mentors and previous Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Executive members have shaped me to become who I am today. Without their guidance and insight into college and in the engineering world, I’d be lost.
What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus is a little corner seat on the second floor of Main Library. It’s the best place I can go to sit in peaceful silence and calm down.
What has been your favorite class at UGA?
My favorite class so far has been Calc II with Dr. Ma! Dr. Ma is truly a great professor who knew how to teach math in an enjoyable way and I grew to be excited about future classes through her.
What has been you best memory at UGA?
My best memory at UGA is when SWE won first place during the 2025 E-Week club competitions!!
What advice do you have for younger students who wish to pursue engineering?
My biggest piece of advice for aspiring engineering students is that no matter what you want to do or where you are now, you will have to work hard because engineering is humbling. While my grades aren’t the best, I do not let that deter me from believing in myself and my goals. Always stay intentional and pursue every opportunity you are given. No matter what your dream is, and whoever tells you that you can’t do it, you have what it takes. Learn to move on from challenges and accept that everyone starts at a different starting line. You are unique and enough if you set your sights on what you want.
How do you hope to impact society with your engineering degree?
I would love the opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers to pursue engineering and to give back to the community. Furthermore, I hope to impact society by promoting and implementing advanced air mobility in our everyday lifestyle through autonomous electric air vehicles.
