What is your favorite thing about being a student at UGA?
My favorite thing about being a UGA student is the camaraderie! The community is inviting and warm, and everyone helps each other without a second thought.
Why did you choose engineering?
I think becoming an environmental engineer will give me the tools to help overcome climate change and pollution. I want my work to make the entire world a better place to live in.
Why is it important for the university to have an inclusive community?
Diversity strengthens a community by bringing in new perspectives. By acknowledging and celebrating our differences of all types, we become an even more welcoming and knowledgeable community.
What has been the greatest challenge you have faced while at UGA, and how did you overcome it?
The greatest challenge I’ve faced is the difficulty increase of my classes. To be honest, I had to learn the hard way that engineering requires more work than I’m used to. Every class is an ongoing process of overcoming this difficulty by learning the best study methods and allowing yourself hours of study time
What have you learned that has made a difference for you?
Through my classes I have enthusiastically learned more about the built and natural environment that I can apply in my everyday life. It’s super interesting to learn about the systems we take for granted and see them in action.
Who has helped you become a successful student at UGA?
Ms. Amber and Dr. Durham pushed me to become the best professional I can be in my freshman year, leading me to grab 2 summer internships for my freshman and sophomore years. Being given the tools to get work experience is genuinely invaluable and I owe them my entire ability to sustain myself in college.
What is your favorite spot on campus and why?
My favorite spot on campus is the forestry and natural resources area because it is super pretty with all the greenery!
What has been your favorite class at UGA?
My favorite class has been Urban Systems because we got to take a lot of field trips.
What has been your best memory at UGA?
My best memory at UGA is watching the Rocky Horror Picture Show production that university union puts on every October!
What advice do you have for younger students who wish to pursue engineering?
Career fairs are the cheat code for getting your first internship! Also train yourself to spend more time studying than you did in high school from the jump.
How do you hope to impact society with your engineering degree?
I hope to make a big impact on society by making a sustainable world using my degree and love for humanity.
