What is your favorite thing about being a student at UGA?

My favorite thing about being a student is all of the opportunities I am able to explore. I am very thankful that I have never felt limited, and I have always been encouraged to pursue more.

Why did you choose engineering?

I chose to pursue engineering to create the possible. In high school, I was very strong in math and physics, and I wanted to chance to actually put those principles into practice. I knew that engineering would allow me to create real solutions to everyday problems.

Why is it important for the university to have an inclusive community?

I believe it is necessary for our university to have a diverse community, so that every student is supported and represented. I think that diversity strengthens our student body and allows us to explore more solutions that wouldn’t be represented by one perspective.

What has been the greatest challenge you have faced while at UGA, and how did you overcome it?

The greatest challenge I have faced while at UGA is balancing issues in my personal life and school. I was able to overcome this challenge by reevaluating what was important to me and reaching out when I needed support. By leaning on my community, I was able to get the help I needed.

What have you learned that has made a difference for you?

Although you cannot control the outcome of everything, you can control your reaction. I used to stress out about everything, but once I realized that I had tried my best I realized that sometimes there’s nothing more you can do. Just be content with whatever the outcome may be. At worse, it’s an experience you can learn from.

Who has helped you become a successful student at UGA?

Dr. Lim has helped me become a successful student at UGA. Through his support, I have had the opportunity to do research, become a teaching assistant, a club leader, and a stronger student. Without his support, I wouldn’t have pursued half of the opportunities I’ve now accomplished.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why?

My favorite spot on campus is the turtle pond. I love walking by it on my way to class and seeing the turtles and the yellow water iris. It’s always so peaceful and serene.

What has been your favorite class at UGA?

My favorite class at UGA was statics. It was the first class that I took that really applied concepts I learned in physics and calculus III.

What has been your best memory at UGA?

My best memory at UGA was when the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) won 1st place at engineers’ week in 2024.

What advice do you have for younger students who wish to pursue engineering?

Engineering is not impossible. It will always be challenging, of course. With enough grit and tenacity, you can persevere and succeed. I would recommend reaching out to professors, classmates, and friends to lean on because they want you to succeed and will do everything in their power to help you.

How do you hope to impact society with your engineering degree?

I hope I can inspire and teach future engineers, so that together we can shape the world into a better place.
