The murder of George Floyd sparked a difficult year of reflection for our nation. These reflections have been painful, but they continue to be necessary if we are to chart a path toward a more just and equitable society.
Our engineering community joins the university in expressing hope that the verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial is a point of healing. This moment reinforces our commitment to continue the dialogue and the actions necessary to remove the barriers of racism and to ensure social equality.
We realize much work remains to be done. By listening to and caring for one another, we can find a way forward.
