Project Manager, Sustainable Innovation, Nike

A 2013 graduate of the University of Georgia, Jones holds a B.S. degree in BioChemical Engineering from the College of Engineering. While at UGA, he served as senator for the College of Engineering and was inducted into UGA Blue Key Society. In 2013, he received both the Black Engineer of the Year Award for Student Leadership and the Outstanding College of Engineering Student Award. In 2020, Jonathan earned his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University with a double major in Supply Chain Operations and Marketing.

Jonathan currently serves as a Project Manager at Nike Inc. within Sustainable Innovation. His primary focus is on decarbonizing Nike products through exploration of new materials and method of make for the rubber and foam program areas. He current works at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR. Prior to Nike, Jonathan spent 8 years in various roles managing projects and teams within manufacturing, R&D, and project management at the Dow Chemical Company and then Corteva Agriscience after the agricultural spin of the DowDuPont merger. Jonathan has spent the last 8 years focused on the development and manufacturing success of fermentation products.

Jonathan is Six Sigma Project Leader with focus on optimization and streamlining technical developments to commercialization. Over his professional career, Jonathan has received numerous awards including 2 Dow Chemical Company Technology Center Awards and 1 Corteva Innovation Technology Award. He is the recipient of the 2018 Eugene M. Deloatch Legacy Award and the 2020 Modern Day Technology Leader award at the Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA).  In addition, Jones is a member of UGA Alumni Association’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2018 and the 2021 UGA Young Alumni of the Year. These awards recognize the personal, professional, and philanthropic achievements.
