Karlie Kazmierczak

Engineering Student Ambassador

Pronouns: She/Her

Major: Biochemical Engineering

Hometown: Charlotte, NC

Class: 3rd year

Fun Fact: I lived in Chester, England for 2 years as a kid and I have been to 20+ different countries!

Why did you choose UGA? I am from North Carolina, so I toured a bunch of schools in the southeast because I knew I wanted a big football school with good weather year-round. I was interested in the NC schools, but majority of the kids from my High School went to NC State or UNC. I liked both, but I’ve always been one to venture outside of my comfort zone and both of those school were too “familiar” for me. The moment I first visited UGA, I fell in love with it. I could see myself being a Bulldog and loved everything about the school. At first, I was unsure about the engineering program at UGA becausse it was fairly new, but once I learned that they offered Biochemical Engineering, I knew it was perfect fit for me since I always wanted to do Chemical Engineering but loved biology too. I couldn’t be happier with my decision!

Favorite Memory as a Bulldog Engineer? My favorite memory as a Bulldog Engineer was being able to go on the College of Engineering study abroad in Valencia, Spain last summer! It was an amazing experience where I was able to strengthen my engineering skills, experience a new culture, make new friends, and travel all over Europe. I am very grateful for that opportunity and I would encourage anyone to do it.
