International VP, Johnson & Johnson (retired)

Ed Perkins is the retired International Vice President of Johnson & Johnson and past President of Noramco, a Johnson & Johnson Company headquartered in Athens Georgia.

Originally from Memphis Tennessee, he attended the University of Virginia, graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

Ed joined Kimberly Clark Corporation where he had a series of positions of increasing responsibility in Manufacturing and Research.  Technology areas were paper manufacturing, consumer branded packaged goods, nonwovens and medical fabrics.

He joined Johnson & Johnson in 1989 as the Vice President of Operations for Chicopee. He has managed operations for Personal Products and J&J Canada. He was responsible for the establishment of a joint venture business opportunity in Europe and became President of Noramco, a pharmaceutical active ingredients and fine chemicals division, in 2000. While President of Noramco he also managed the J&J Global Narcotics Franchise and Tasmanian Alkaloids in Westbury, Australia.

In 2010 Governor Sonny Perdue appointed Ed to the Board of the Georgia Medical Center Authority. He also serves on the Board of the University of Georgia Research Foundation, the Dean’s Advisory Board of the UGA School of Engineering, and the Oconee County Industrial Development Authority.

He is active in the community with past service on the Boards of the Georgia Bio, Athens Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Northeast Georgia. Ed is the Vice President of the St. Mary’s Healthcare System Foundation and chaired the 2009-2010 United Way Campaign for northeast Georgia. He is a member of the Classic City Rotary Club of Athens. He has served on the Board of the University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science Foundation and the Dean’s Advisory Council.

Ed chaired the joint Athens Clark County / Oconee County Task Force, established to study and make recommendations to both county governments on the potential for regional cooperation in economic development.

Ed has two children, Matthew and Morgan. Ed and his wife, Jan, live in Oconee County, Georgia.
