Region Vice President, Coastal Region, Georgia Power (retired)

Truitt Eavenson recently retired as Georgia Power’s Coastal Region Vice President. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the company’s operations in a 31-county area that includes Savannah, Statesboro, Brunswick and Waycross.

Eavenson was named Coastal Region Vice President in January 2017 after serving for more than two years as Georgia Power’s vice president of governmental and regulatory affairs. In that role, he fostered good working relationships with elected state officials, other Georgia companies and industries and Georgia Power field office managers. He was also responsible for managing Georgia Power’s relationship with the Georgia Public Service Commission, supporting Southern Company’s legislative office and leading outreach to external groups that share a common interest in utility issues. In addition, he managed Georgia Power’s federal and state political action committees.

Prior to his role in governmental and regulatory affairs, he served almost four years as Georgia Power’s East Region vice president, where he led the company’s operations, service, sales and external relations in a 13-county area that included Augusta, Thomson, Waynesboro and surrounding communities.

Eavenson began his career at Georgia Power in 1984 as distribution engineer and has served in various leadership roles, including East Region vice president and manager positions in safety and health, state legislative affairs, fleet operations and power delivery. He also served as general manager of transmission and distribution for the Coastal Region.

A native of Carnesville, Georgia, Eavenson earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in business administration from Georgia State University. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program for Management Development.

In the community, Eavenson currently serves on the board of directors of Ossabaw Island Foundation, Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, Savannah Economic Development Authority, University of Georgia Alumni Association and the Georgia Southern University Foundation. He is a member of the University of Georgia’s College of Engineering Advisory Council, Bank South Advisory Board, and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee.
