Developing next-gen plastics

Joe Grubbs is the Senior Director of R&D and Director of Athens Research Center with Danimer Scientific, a biopolymer company in Bainbridge, Georgia. Danimer is working with UGA researchers to develop a new generation of plastics made from canola oil. They are just as strong and malleable as their petroleum-based cousins, but these plastics finish their life cycle being consumed by microorganisms in the soil whence they came.
